Matthew J. Assiff
Co-Founder and Managing Partner
Mr. Assiff co-founded Fairview in 2017 and is responsible for the leadership and overall management of the firm. He, along with Mr. Irani, leads Fairview’s capital allocation process and is a member of the Investment Committee. Prior to Fairview, from 2010 to 2016, Mr. Assiff served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Sheridan Production Company, a series of resource funds functioning as a North American onshore oil and gas production company, where he sat on the Investment Committee and managed the financial and administrative operations of three funds with a combined enterprise value of over $5 billion. Prior to Sheridan, Mr. Assiff served as Chief Financial Officer of Quantum Resources Management, LLC from 2009 to 2010. For over seven years, prior to joining Quantum Resources, he was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Copano Energy, LLC, a publicly traded, Houston-based midstream natural gas company with operations in Oklahoma, Texas, Wyoming, and Louisiana. Before Copano, he worked in the Global Energy Group of Credit Suisse and was with Donaldson, Lufkin, and Jenrette prior to its purchase by Credit Suisse in 2000. Mr. Assiff began his career in 1989 with Goldman, Sachs & Co. in the Mergers and Acquisitions group focusing on energy transactions. He later worked in finance and mergers and acquisitions at Bear Stearns, Chemical Securities (now J.P. Morgan), Landmark Graphics Company, and Compaq Computer Corporation. Mr. Assiff holds a B.A. from Columbia University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He is a member of the Board of Directors of WolfePak Software, an oil and gas accounting software company, and the Houston Museum of Natural Science.
Cyrus B. Irani
Co-Founder and Managing Partner
Mr. Irani co-founded Fairview in 2017. He, along with Mr. Assiff, leads Fairview’s capital allocation process and is a member of the Investment Committee. Prior to Fairview, from 2015 to 2017, Mr. Irani served as Chief Financial Officer of The Information Store, a software and services provider for the upstream oil and gas sector, where he was a board member. While at The Information Store, Mr. Irani managed the financial and administrative operations for the company. Prior to The Information Store, Mr. Irani led Finance, Analysis, Planning, and Investor Relations at Sheridan Production Company and was also a Director within the upstream energy-focused private equity group of Ziff Brothers Investments. Mr. Irani began his career with McKinsey & Co. in the Petroleum Practice and then joined Quantum Energy Partners and subsequently Quantum Resources Management, LLC. Mr. Irani graduated with Phi Beta Kappa honors from Emory University with a B.A. in Economics and Mathematics and was a Robert W. Woodruff Scholar. He is a member of the Houston Community College Foundation Board of Directors and the Emory College Alumni Board.
